SHEEPSKIN RUG \\ M
Black Welsh Mountain sheepskin from a small flock of organically reared sheep.
A collaboration with Stone House Organic Farm which sadly had to close last year. It once had the largest organic Black Welsh Mountain flock in the UK. The sheep grazed in fields fed only by rain and sunshine. Hardy sheep that lamb easily and happily eat organic hay if snow is on the ground. Their thick fleeces produce wool ideal for jumpers or throws which are incredibly warm. Whilst nurtured organically from birth and throughout their lives, the wool is not able to be organically processed due to limited registered mills and tanneries.
The hides are salted by hand before being treated in one of the last traditional British tanneries, based in Devon. Each sheepskin is unique, the fleeces varying from one to the next as individual as the animals themselves.
